CLIENT + PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Save the Amazon, a non-governmental organization, desired an educational facility that functioned as the initial orientation and educational space for individuals embarking on a service-learning trip to the Amazon Basin. They also requested that the educational facility play a positive role in the local community by educating visitors on rainforest reforestation and preservation efforts.

CONCEPT
Inspired by the uppermost vertical layer of the Amazon rainforest, the design of Save the Amazon’s educational center emphasizes the harmonious, interdependent relationships exhibited within the canopy. Architectural details, transitional furniture, and sustainable materials holistically allude to the marriage of nature and science through the use of natural, organic forms and calculated, geometric shapes. The facility offers a flexible, adaptable educational space that is designed to enrich academic, sociological, and psychological growth by providing individuals the opportunity to alter their environment through the use of mobile furniture and integrative technologies.
