The goal of the project is to provide the Arlotta family with an enjoyable and fulfilling home that serves as a canvas upon which they can build their lives and imprint their memories. The clients desire a design that accommodates their growing family, frequent entertaining for their family and friends, their outdoorsy lifestyle, and their high-end taste. These goals are achieved through providing layouts that both encourage interaction as well as create spaces for refuge through circular, sociopetal seating arrangements as well as individualized seating areas. The marrying of the traditional style of the home with the client’s contemporary style is achieved through transitional design that incorporates traditional, more rectilinear furnishings mixed with contemporary pieces. Rough, natural textures like wood and leather juxtaposed against smooth, shiny materials like brass, glass, and lucite create visual interest, while incorporating personal memorabilia serves to enhance the clients’ attachment to and comfort within their home.
